Rumi was a 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian and Sufi mystic who lived in Konya, a city of Ottoman Empire (Today’s Turkey). He has been described as the most popular poet.

Basho, one of the greatest of Japanese poets and the master of haiku, was also a Buddhist monk and a life-long traveller. Each poem evokes the natural world – the cherry blossom, the leaping frog, the summer moon or the winter snow – suggesting the smallness of human life in comparison to the vastness and drama of nature.

Blake was one of the finest craftsmen of his time, an artist for whom art and poetry were inextricably linked. He abhorred pretension and falsity in others.
